SUCH A NICE GIRL
TRANSWORLD | PENGUIN RANDOM HOUSE UK
BACKGROUND
Andrea Mara is a Sunday Times bestselling author from Ireland, published by Transworld, Penguin Random House UK. In Ireland she is a consistent bestseller, and retailers plan around her releases. In the UK her sales had been good but not consistent, and Transworld wanted to change that with her latest book, Such A Nice Girl. Her earlier novel All Her Fault had just been adapted into a television series starring Sarah Snook, and readers who had watched the show were starting to discover the books behind it. Transworld's goal was to use that attention to turn Andrea from an author whose books people stumbled upon into a name readers actively sought out, and to do it in UK, Irish and Australian markets.
IDEA
A standout quality of Andrea Mara's writing is her ability to turn an ordinary fear into an extraordinary story. Most thrillers ask you to fear a stranger. Andrea Mara asks you to fear the people you trust most, the ones already inside your life. That's a fear most readers recognise instantly, and it became the springboard for the whole campaign.
EXECUTION
AI has crept into so many stock libraries that you can no longer be sure what you're actually buying. Authenticity was our priority, so we shot everything ourselves, giving us full control over what appeared on screen. We created a hero film that aired on ITV, Sky and RTÉ, followed by eight shorter teasers released weekly in the run-up to publication to keep the campaign present in readers' feeds. To tie it all together, we included an interview with Andrea Mara, talking through her book, her ideation process and how she builds her stories. We shaped every edit around who was actually going to watch it, what they liked, what they didn't, and where they spend their time online, so the finished films met readers on their own terms.

STILLS
I was delighted to have the opportunity to work with Srishti and the Gunpowder team for a recent book publicity campaign. Srishti was so professional, kind, friendly and organised – it was a joy to watch her work. Her understated manner wields a kind of magic and the results were stunning. I would highly recommend Srishti and Gunpowder.
